New Workforce Study of EP Physicians
A new Heart Rhythm Society study of physicians working in electrophysiology reveals an increasing demand for EP professionals as a result of shifting demographic trends, evolving health reform policies, improved procedural outcomes and substantial growth in the overall volume and complexity of cardiac procedures performed in the past decade. “As seen from this study, electrophysiologists must embrace advancements in technology and adapt to the changes in health care reform in order to continue to deliver high-quality care to a growing patient population," said lead author Thomas F. - The Society submitted comments on August 24 to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in response to the 2011 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, which updates Medicare payment policies, as well as a separate comment letter that focuses exclusively on the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative and related quality reporting initiatives

Call for Leadership and Recognition Nominations
The Nominations Subcommittee requests your help in formulating the slate of Heart Rhythm Society officers and trustees for 2011–2012 — please recommend candidates (or yourself) for seven positions, including five trustee openings and the offices of Second Vice President and Secretary. The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 15.
The Society is also seeking Recognition Award nominations: help us identify and recognize outstanding contributions to the field and to the Society by nominating qualified candidates for the Distinguished Scientist (basic or clinical); Distinguished Teacher; Distinguished Service and Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology awards.
