About Us
Founded in 1979, the Heart Rhythm Society has a membership of more than 5,100 physicians, scientists and associated professionals representing more than 70 countries. As the leading professional group representing the allied specialties of cardiac pacing and cardiac electrophysiology, the Society plays an important role not only in education, but also as an intermediary between government regulatory agencies and its members.
Professional Education
The mission of Heart Rhythm Society's continuing education program is to enhance the ability of heart rhythm specialists worldwide to provide excellent patient care throughout their careers, accomplished by providing academically rigorous, year-round learning to physicians, scientists and healthcare professionals, using innovative teaching methods and advanced technologies in the Society's educational courses and symposia, enduring materials and year-round educational activities.
The Society’s Annual Scientific Sessions is held every year in May, the must-attend event for anyone involved in research or delivery of arrhythmia care or services. No other offers the depth and breadth of information available at the Society’s Annual Scientific Sessions.
Health Policy and Advocacy
Government regulations and Congressional legislation can impact patients, physicians and scientists, as much as what occurs in a hospital, physician’s office or research laboratory. To encourage cooperation as well as the development and implementation of sound health care policies, the Heart Rhythm Society maintains a strong voice in Washington, DC through its network of volunteers who serve on the Health Policy Committee and with Heart Rhythm Society’s dedicated health policy staff. The Society’s advocacy efforts focus on issues of critical importance to the heart rhythm specialist, scientist and allied health personnel.
