Jodie L. Hurwitz, MD, FHRS divides her presentation into three general areas: potential future for Medicare, what EPs need to do to ensure the best in reimbursement (procedural documentation, multiple procedure billing and hospital coding) and coding tips for EP studies and ablation. She notes that proper and thorough documentation is critical, as it can determine whether a procedure is reimbursed in total, in part or not at all. Dr. Hurwitz offers billing tips for EP studies, cardioversion, intracardiac mapping, atrial fibrilation (AF) ablation and ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation.
Dr. Hurwitz's presentation was one of four segments of a Heart Rhythm 2008 session titled Reimbursement Issues for EP Specialists and Their Hospitals.
