HRS Sketcher

The new Heart Rhythm Society Sketcher is an educational tool that helps Health Care Providers (HCP) facilitate a dialogue with patients regarding both sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and atrial fibrillation (AF) during diagnosis and follow-up.

The iPad App version, now available for purchase, highlights the changes in normal heart functions and allows the HCP to draw over the heart images to explain the changes in the electrical signals of the heart and illustrate where surgical intervention might be required.

Note: For a limited time, the HRS Sketcher desktop application can be downloaded FREE!

HRS Sketcher Features:

The HRS Sketcher software programs were developed as an educational device that would help explain the changes to the heart during specific arrhythmias. Using the HRS Sketcher allows the HCP to print out records to include in patient charts and provide to the patient at and end of the office visit.

HRS Sketcher Testimonial

"The HRS Sketcher app has become an integral part of my patient care. I use it to show patients how their hearts move in sinus rhythm and in A Fib. I admit that I use other apps to do this as well. But the real genius of the Sketcher app is that I can draw on it to show patients where their arrhythmia originates, where we will ablate, where we will perform a transeptal puncture, where we will put leads, where left atrial thrombi travel, where their regurgitant valves are, and where their ventricular scar resides. The Sketcher app is a valuable translator for me to quickly interpret my patients' study results in a way they can understand. It saves me time during a visit, and makes my teaching more effective. In turn, by removing the mystery, my patients seem to feel more confident about their diagnosis and adhere more carefully to the regimen we negotiate."
        — Heather M. Ross, DNP, ANP-BC, CCDS, CEPS, FHRS, in her EP Insights blog post:

SCA and AF are serious health issues affecting millions of lives:

  • Each year more than 250,000 deaths occur as a result of SCA — in fact, SCA claims one life every two minutes, taking more lives each year than breast cancer, lung cancer or AIDS.
  • More than 2.5 million adults experience symptoms of AF, and it increases stroke risk by 500 percent.
