Our Vision
The vision of the Women’s Leadership Initiative is to help diversify the field of electrophysiology and pacing by creating a vibrant Community of Interest for women EPs that is designed to
- Increase the ranks of female EPs
- Strengthen their non-medical professional skills
- Provide opportunities to enhance their professional standing
- Enable them to assume leadership positions in the field.
WLI Objectives
- Encourage female physicians-in-training to choose the EP field as a career.
- Support the careers of women EPs through education, mentoring, networking and opportunities to enhance professional visibility.
- Facilitate mentoring relationships between established women EPs and the next generation of female heart rhythm specialists.
- Provide access to professional venues and leadership opportunities for successful careers in the field of EP.
Areas of Focus for the WLI
The Business of EP: Advice on everything from running an EP lab, starting a private practice or working in a group practice to writing grants, understanding the NIH and participating in clinical trials.
Professional Growth: Tips for managing your career, finding a job, using (or being) a mentor and negotiating for what you want. Plus advice and resources to help you increase your professional visibility, speaking opportunities and leadership potential.
Work-Life Balance: Help with making your work environment as family friendly as possible, negotiating for the support you need, dealing with difficult bosses and co-workers, and insights on balancing an EP career with the demands of motherhood.
Leadership Resources for Women: Sources of leadership training, non-medical professional development courses, books, websites and more.
