Revised FHRS Selection Criteria

fellow_seal_v2In response to feedback from Heart Rhythm Society members and as part of our continuing effort to elevate the prominence of the field of electrophysiology, the Society is pleased to announce new eligibility criteria to become a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS).

FHRS Recognition Guide
For those who have achieved the FHRS designation, the Heart Rhythm Society has created several tools and tips (FHRS-only, login required) to help make the most of your FHRS status.

The new criteria are tailored to the Society's diverse and international membership of physicians, allied health professionals and research scientists. They were drafted by working groups composed of distinguished volunteers from each of the Society's member segments and approved by the Society's Board of Trustees.

The FHRS designation distinguishes members among health care providers for their specialization in electrophysiology, clarifies the referral process and serves as a credential for quality care for patients, media and government. FHRS members are characterized by advanced training, certification and prominence in research.

In November 2010, the U.S. Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that electrophysiology will be given its own specialty code. This separate code solidifies the distinction of electrophysiologists to provide highly specialized, quality heart rhythm care. To reflect this important achievement, the FHRS credential will exemplify these attributes in training, certification and commitment to the field of electrophysiology.

If you have any questions, please contact the Member Services Hotline at (202) 464-9855 or membership@HRSonline.org.
