While stun guns are considered a nonlethal method of restraining suspects, studies have shown that stun guns may have contributed to the deaths of suspects. Studies done by stun gun manufacturers concluded that the devices were not harmful, but independent research showed that the device is considered the most-tested less-lethal use of force technology today.
