SAFARI Meeting Discusses AF Ablation Registry
The Heart Rhythm Society collaborated with other organizations in the development of the Safety of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Registry Initiative (SAFARI) meeting, which was held on January 13, 2010 in Boston, MA.
This meeting served as a follow-up to the successful think tank meeting held April 27-28, 2009. The proceedings of the first AF Think Tank were published in the January 2010 issue of American Heart Journal (Am Heart J 2010; 159:17-24.el.)
During the January 13 meeting, faculty expert from academia, private practice, industry, government, hospitals, and third-party payers discussed key topics regarding the design of a potential multi-stakeholder registry for atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. Some of the issues that the participants addressed included:
- The state of registry development since the AF Think Tank
- Plans for the pilot and a follow-up phase of the registry
- Funding opportunities of the registry
- The future of SAFARI and its relationship with other AF Registry efforts
The proceedings of the SAFARI meeting will be published in the American Heart Journal in the coming months.
