David Rosenbaum, MD, FHRS, Chair of the Heart Rhythm Society Research Subcommittee, met on February 14 with Betsy Nabel, MD, Director of the NIH’s National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and staff from the offices of Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) and Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) to discuss the important initiatives NHLBI is currently funding, as well as the successes and opportunities in arrhythmia-related research. Rep. Lowey serves on the Appropriations Committee tasked with funding the NIH.

These are the first of a series of meetings during which Nabel will be briefing Congressional members and staff about its programs and its newly released strategic plan. The Heart Rhythm Society will continue to highlight the crucial importance of arrhythmia-related research and NIH’s role in enabling these advances.
